The Hesperian Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to improving the health of people in poor communities throughout the world by making health information accessible. The foundation produce books and other educational resources for community-based health care.

AID-Bay Area has received a grant from the foundation for producing a tamil version of their book "Where Women Have no Doctor"

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Jane obtained her graduate training in medical anthropology and journalism (including medical and
science writing). She has served as:

• project coordinator, primary research and co-author for revision of WHERE THERE IS NO DOCTOR
• project coordinator and editor of DISABLED VILLAGE CHILDREN.
• project coordinator, co-author and editor of WHERE WOMEN HAVE NO DOCTOR.

Jane is currently researching and writing a health care book for women with disabilities. She has extensive experience as a lay practitioner in women's medicine in inner-city US clinics. She is also endowed with international experience in women's health and health education in Ghana, the Central African Republic,Zimbabwe, Mexico, Guatemala, Brazil and China.
