About the Speaker:
Dr. M. P. Parameswaran received a BS in Engineering from the College of Engineering, Kerala, India in 1956 and a Ph.D in Nuclear Engineering from the Moscow Power Institute in 1965. He was a scientist with BARC, Bombay from 1957 to 1975. Since 1975 he has been a full-time activist with the Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad (KSSP). Dr. Parameswaran also currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti (BGVS) and as the Chair of the Total Health and Sanitation Mission, Kerala.
The Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad (which literally means the Science Writers' Forum of Kerala) has earned wide acclaim for activities related to generating environmental consciousness, literacy campaigns, and decentralized, micro-level planning. The KSSP is a recipient of the Right Livelihood Award (dubbed the alternate Nobel Peace Prize) in 1996, the UNESCO Literacy Award (King Sejong Prize) in 1990, the UNEP's Global 500, and the Vriksha Mitra award.

From Highway 101
Take the Embarcadero Rd (Westbound) exit in Palo Alto. Stay on Embarcadero and cross El Camino Real into the Stanford Campus where Embarcadero becomes Galvez Street. Stay in the right lane and turn right onto Arboretum Rd. At the traffic light, turn left on to Palm Drive, stay in the right lane and at the next intersection, turn right onto Campus Dr. Parking Structure 1 will be to your left in about a third of a mile.Parking is free on weekends. Walk out onto Campus Drive and go left. Walk past the Mudd Chemistry Bldg and in about 300 yards, Gates Info Sciences will be on your left. If you come to Via Ortega, you've gone too far.
From Highway 280
Exit on Alpine and turn east towards Stanford. Turn right at Junipero Serra (first light). Turn left on Campus Drive West (first light).Go about 1.2 miles on Campus Drive (past numerous stop signs and construction zones) to Roth Way. Turn right on Roth Way and immediately turn left into Parking Structure 1. Parking is free on weekends.Walk out onto Campus Drive and go left. Walk past the Mudd Chemistry Bldg and in about 300 yards, Gates Info Sciences will be on your left. If you come to Via Ortega, you've gone too far.
